Əkizlər bürcünün β ulduzu, narıncı rəngli nəhəng ulduz kimi inkişaf etmişdir, təxminən. Günəşdən 34 i.i məsafədə Əkizlər bürcünün şimalındadır. Günəşə ən yaxın nəhəng ulduzdur.

Tipik "Qırmızı Nəhəngdir". Parlaqlığına görə 17-ci olub narıncı rəngi ilə seçilir. Parlaqlığına görə Kastordan daha parlaq olsa da Bayer sistematikasında nədənsə β adlandırılmışdır. Bu ulduz Günəşdən 2 Günəş kütləsi dəfə və 9 Günəş radiusu dəfə böyükdür.[10] Bir dəfə baş ardıcıllıq ulduzu[11] olub, sonra isə Polluksun nüvəsindəki hidrogen tükənir və K0 III[12] spektral sinifli nəhəng ulduz kimi inkişaf edir. Ulduzun xarici təbəqəsində effektiv temperatur 4666K-dir[13]. Polluks 2.8 km/s[14] fırlanma sürətinə malikdir.

Pollux (β Gem, β Geminorum, Beta Geminorum) ulduzunun görünən ulduz ölçüsü +1,15-dir. Pollux, qonşusu Kastor (Alfa Geminorum) dan daha parlaqdır. 2006-cı ildə, Pollux'un orbitində bir planetin varlığı təsdiqləndi.

Parallaks ölçmələri nəticəsində, Hipparcos[15][16] astrofotometri peykləri vasitəsilə Polluks Günəşdən[17] təxminən 33.78 işıq ilı (10.36 parsek) məsafədə yerləşir.

2006-cı ilin iyun anında Polluksun kütləsinin Yupiterdən 2.3 dəfə böyük olması hesablandı. Planet Polluksu təxminən 590 gün dövr edir[18]
