Veda sivilizasiyası
Veda sivilizasiyası və ya Vedik dövr (təxminən MÖ 1500 – MÖ 500) — Hindistan tarixinin son Tunc dövrü və erkən Dəmir dövrünə təsadüf edən, Vedalar (təxminən MÖ 1300–900) da daxil olmaqla zəngin Vedik ədəbiyyatının Hindistan yarımadasının şimalında tərtib edildiyi tarixi mərhələdir. Bu dövr, İndus vadisi sivilizasiyasının tənəzzülü ilə təxminən e.ə. 600-cü ildə Hind-Qanq düzənliyinin mərkəzində başlayan ikinci şəhərləşmə dalğası arasındakı zaman kəsiyini əhatə edir.[1] Brahmanizm ideologiyasının təməlini qoyan və Kuru Krallığı areallarında formalaşan liturgik (ritual) mətnlər — Vedalar, dövrün başlanğıcında regiona miqrasiya edən qədim hind-ari dilli icmalar tərəfindən yaradılmış və nəsildən-nəslə ciddi şəkildə şifahi olaraq ötürülmüşdür. Vedalar bu dövrün məişət və sosial həyatı barədə ən ilkin, birinci dərəcəli mənbə sayılmaqla yanaşı, arxeoloji tapıntılarla birlikdə hind-ari və Vedik mədəniyyətinin təkamülünü izləməyə kömək edir.[2]

Vedik cəmiyyəti patriarxat və patrilineal (ata xəttinə əsaslanan) struktur xüsusiyyətlərinə malik idi. Pəncab regionunda məskunlaşan qədim hind-arilər mərkəzi dövlətlərdən ziyadə tayfalar halında təşkilatlanmışdılar və əsasən köçəri-maldar həyat tərzi sürən bir son Tunc dövrü icması idilər. E.ə. 1200–1000-ci illər arasında ari mədəniyyəti şərq istiqamətinə — Qərbi Qanq düzənliyinə doğru genişlənmişdi. Regionda dəmir alətlərin tətbiqi ilə oturaq həyat tərzinə və intensiv əkinçiliyə keçid baş vermişdi. Vedik dövrün ikinci yarısı iri qəsəbələrin, krallıqların və Hindistan coğrafiyasına xas olan mürəkkəb sosial-kasta təbəqələşməsinin (varna sisteminin) bərqərar olduğu dövrdür.[2] Bu zaman kəsiyində mərkəzi Qanq düzənliyi, Vedik ənənəsinə daxil olmayan fərqli hind-ari mədəniyyətinin — Böyük Maqadha areallarının təsiri altında idi. Vedik dövrünün sonlarında isə böyük şəhərlər və Mahacanapadalar adlanan ilk böyük dövlətlər meydana çıxmış, paralel olaraq Caynizm və Buddizm kimi şramanik (ortodoks brahmanizmə müxalif) dini hərəkatlar yüksəlişə keçmişdir.[3]
