Aksent — başqa dildə danışarkən ana dilinin tələffüz xüsusiyyətlərinin təzahürü. Bu və ya digər dialektin tələffüz xüsusiyyətlərinin məcmusudur.[1] Aksent danışanların yaşadığı yer, danışanların sosial-iqtisadi vəziyyəti, etnik mənsubiyyəti (etnolekt), kasta və ya sosial sinif ilə də müəyyən oluna bilər.[2]
Aksentlər adətən səs keyfiyyəti, tələffüz, sait və samitlər arasındakı fərq, vurğu və prosodiya ilə fərqlənir. Qrammatika, semantika, lüğət və digər dil xüsusiyyətləri tez-tez aksent ilə eyni vaxtda dəyişsə də, "aksent" sözü xüsusi olaraq tələffüz fərqliliklərinə aid olunur, "dialekt" sözü isə daha geniş dil fərqlərini əhatə edir. "Aksent" əksər halda "dialekt"in alt çoxluğu hesab edilir.[3]
